For those unaware, Pwn2Own is a hacking competition organized each year by the Zero Day Initiative (ZDI) where ethical hackers, cybersecurity experts, and several other contestants took part. Pwn2Own Toronto 2022 marked the 10th anniversary of the consumer-focused hacking contest. In the Pwn2Own hacking contest, security researchers exploit the latest and most popular mobile devices and demonstrate their skills and disclose major zero-day vulnerabilities to tech companies. Following the event, vendors have 90 days to produce patches for these bugs....

The hack was discovered in Samsung’s RF28HMELBSR fridge which has a Wi-Fi capability that allows a user to show their Gmail calendar on the display. Though Samsung has implemented a Secure Sockets Layer (SSL), the fridge fails to validate the certificates that come as part of the SSL protocol, leaving the device vulnerable to attack. For an SSL certificate to be valid, the browser must receive a valid code back from the website host, something Samsung failed to do....

Sharp has started accepting preorders for its adorable RoBoHoN robot, a 7.7-inch-tall (19.5 centimeter) humanoid that also comes with all the basic features of a smartphone. The company said it plans to release the robots in Japan on May 26 at a price of 198,000 yen — or more than $1,800. RoBoHoN runs on Android 5.0 mobile operating system and comes with 16 gigabytes of storage and an 8-megapixel camera....

Spokesperson for Telstra said that an unauthorised third party had been able to gain access to the Pacnet business management systems through a malicious software installed via a vulnerability on an SQL server.
