According to a statement from Dixons Carphone, the IT network of one of the firm’s online divisions, was the victim of a “sophisticated cyber-attack” within the last two weeks. Dixons Carphone, the JV parent of Carphone Warehouse, confirmed that details including customers addresses, bank details, dates of birth are feared to have been stolen. Labelling the operation a “sophisticated cyber-attack,” Carphone Warehouse also said that 90,000 customers’ credit card details may have also been accessed by the hackers. Dixons Carphone group CEO Sebastian James said that the retailer is now in the process of contacting those affected and is reviewing its security.
