Microsoft is rolling out another test build just one day after releasing a new Windows 10 preview build for PCs. Yesterday, Microsoft released Build 10158 to its Fast Ring testers. Today, Microsoft released another Windows 10 build for PC, numbered 10159. They have included the new wallpaper that will be the hero image for the OS and also updated the login screen as well. Looks like this build is primarily a bug fix update, as it only one version newer than what was released yesterday. Microsoft said that there are over 300 fixes is this release, which means that it should be more stable and work better on a wider range of hardware. The updated login screen now supports the hero image but does not update if you change your wallpaper; this adds a bit more polish to the OS and does make the login screen look a bit better. The preceding Windows 10 build number 10158 that was released yesterday itself had a bundle of new features. Let’s have a look at what the two versions bring. Microsoft Edge, which was previously developed under the codename Project Spartan, is a web browser in development by Microsoft. Finally, Project Spartan will be called Microsoft Edge in this build. Besides the name change, there are many notable updates over previous Spartan builds:
Via the Advanced Settings menu, You can add a ‘Home’ button to the browser Support of Bookmark importing from other browsers A cool new dark theme has been introduced You can choose to open the browser with a Start page, the New Tab page, previous pages or a specific set of pages New Tab pages can feature either suggested content or top sites A password manager on board will be available Tabs can be dragged and dropped to new windows
Since, Edge will completely replace Spartan, it is very important to back up your favorites before updating to Build 10158 if you want to save them. Microsoft has been refining its interface with every new build of Window 10. This time around it has taken care of Tablet mode animations and some UI glitches as well as improved support for legacy apps in Tablet mode. All of your installed apps will now show swiping up from the left side of the Start menu. Also, Cortana, an intelligent personal assistant developed by Microsoft, includes tracking of your flights and packages and alerts for your commutes to home, work and the airport. You an also now send emails straight from Cortana by dictating the email address, the subject and the message without typing anything. It even lets you correct the text with just your voice. In addition, Windows Photos app now also supports GIFs and has an ‘Open with’ option, a timer on the Snipping Tool and battery fixes for the Surface Pro 3. Also, Microsoft Wi-Fi has completely taken the place of Skype WiFi, which the users can use to purchase access to hotspots in chunks of time using Windows Store’s payment methods. Build 10159 will start rolling out later today to Insiders, and be available to all by end of day, Gabe Aul, head of the Windows Insider program said. Windows 10 is all set to roll out on July 29.
