Google Said To Brand Its Nexus Smartphones As Pixel And Pixel Xl Techworm

The two upcoming HTC Nexus devices that are meant to succeed the Nexus 5X and 6P would now be called the Google Pixel and Pixel XL instead, according to a recent Android Police report. The Pixel will be the 5? HTC-made Sailfish device, while Pixel XL will be the 5.5? HTC-made Marlin. Sailfish and Marlin would both feature quad-core Qualcomm processors, 4GB of RAM, and 12-megapixel cameras. The only difference between these two smartphones is Marlin’s larger screen and battery. These new devices will also have some features built over vanilla Android, claim rumors. Google plans to market the Pixel and Pixel XL as the first smartphones built by Google, rumours claim. In order to announce the new name for Google Android products, the search giant is apparently holding a special media event for the day. In addition to the Pixel and Pixel XL, Google is also expected to unveil an in-house design for a Daydream VR viewer device that may be called as the Daydream View, a new 4K Chromecast device, and fully detailed Google Home. While no details about the pricing of the new Nexus smartphones – or Pixel and Pixel XL – have been revealed, but they are expected to be more expensive than last year’s Nexus handsets. The Pixel smartphones will be available for purchase on October 4th, or shortly after that, and will run a Google-customized version of Android 7.0 Nougat.
