The GPD Pocket is a 7-inch laptop with a capacitive touch-screen and Gorilla Glass 3 protection along with an impressive 1,920 x 1,200 resolution – 323 pixels per inch (PPI). It is powered by an x7-Z8700 quad-core Intel Atom processor running at 1.6GHz (2.4GHz burst). It comes with 4GB of LPDDR3-1600 RAM along with 128GB of eMMC storage.
It has an all-in-one body made of magnesium and alloy. There is a fan under the hood to help keep the system cool. It includes a QWERTY keyboard and there is a small pointing stick instead of a trackpad below the keyboard. It measures 180×106×18.5mm and weighs 480 grams. Depending on your preference, the mini laptop is capable of running either Ubuntu 16.04 or Microsoft’s latest Windows 10 operating system. It also comes with 7,000 mAh battery, which gives an estimated battery life of 12 hours. On the connectivity front, it has 802.11 a//ac/b/g/n Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 4.1, but no built-in SIM slot. It has a single USB Type-C port, which is joined by a full-size USB 3.0 Type-A port, a micro HDMI port plus a 3.5mm headphone jack. GPD offers models with Windows 10 or Ubuntu 16.04 Linux at $399 on the company’s Indiegogo crowdfunding page, which is a $200 discount over the planned retail price of $599.
