According to a new report from notable WhatsApp updates tracker WABetaInfo, the company is now reportedly working on adding a new ‘Calls’ tab for beta testers on its desktop app. Currently, the calling feature and call history are not available for WhatsApp Web users and desktop app users. Last month, the tech giant rolled out a new app sidebar in the WhatsApp beta for Windows 2.2240.1.0, which gave users easy access to their chat list, status update, and settings. Now, WhatsApp is adding a Calls tab on the sidebar. WhatsApp has already rolled out the ‘Calls’ tab within the app sidebar for a few beta desktop users who have installed the WhatsApp beta for Windows 2.2246.4.0 update from the Microsoft Store. It is expected to roll out to even more users over the coming days. The new section will allow users to view the list of their call history within WhatsApp’s desktop app itself as well as related information about the call by opening the call history card. It also offers the ability to search for a call made in the past.   “Since this app is a beta version, the call history may not immediately be in sync with the one on your mobile device: in fact, calls placed from the native desktop app may not show up on your phone. Another update may be released in the future and it should address this issue,” the report states. Since it is a beta app, it is likely to go through changes or improvements before it is actually rolled out to all users on the stable channel. This could take anywhere between weeks and months. Last week, WhatsApp Polls was made available to users on both Android and iOS. This feature allows users to run polls in private chats as well as group conversations with end-to-end encryption.
