Xiaomi’s Android based MIUI operating system has been in circulation for more than 5 years now and is known to have its own fan following. Xiaomi hopes to take this further in Mi 5 which a new and improved version of MIUI called v7. Making an announcement, Xiaomi said that its next gen smartphone Xiaomi Mi 5 will run on MIUI V7 operating system based on Android Lollipop 5.1 and will be launched soon. Xiaomi confirmed that custom Android ROM maker, AOKP will collaborate with its engineers on MIUI v76, Xiaomi news blog states “Android ROM developers like Cyanogen and ParanoidAndroid have been partnering with hardware manufacturers to help these phone makers differentiate themselves in a crowded and competitive marketplace. Team Kang at AOKP announced on Thursday that it will be working with Xiaomi as the latter starts work on MIUI 7”. The new UI being developed by both AOKP and Xiaomi is known internally as MiKangy and is expected to combine all of the features available with Cyanogen, PA, Omni and AOKP. According to a post on the Team Kang website, MIUI 7 will allow users to “create an experience which completely submerges the user in his own world.” The AOKP Blog mentions, “MIUI 7, (which the team internally calls codename MiKangy, not to be confused with MiKandi), is a whole new take on the Android UX. The idea behind it is to kang all important features from the top ROMs like CM, PA, Omni and AOKP and create an experience which completely submerges the user in his own world. The UI will evolve with the user, and thus a few months after usage, the UI of each Mi 5 phone will be different – personalised to the traits of its individual user.” While liitle is known about its specs and price The countdown on Xiaomi’s MIUI shows that the new MI 5 may come in 59 days.
